Acoustic electric guitars can be used to play strumming folk, country, rock, bluegrass or any number of styles. You can find them with nylon strings, steel strings, nylon & steel strings, nylon strings and some even have a mix of all three.
There are plenty of reasons to buy an acoustic electric, but my favorite is the feedback you get, which is almost instant. It makes you much more aware of exactly what you’re doing, and this is hugely valuable. With some versions you can even plug your guitar into the amp and apply a little distortion for more rock and roll or metal.
